    And I Was Just About To Start Bitching

    I got spanked every time I sat down at a cash game today, but I guess the tournament mojo hasn’t left me entirely. Thanks to my usual uber-tight play and a couple of fortuitous suckouts, I chopped the 8K Guaranteed, which is why I’m up at almost 3am when I have to get up early to check out E3. Nickerson sweated me as I luckboxed my way past AK with AT, turning a straight, then again as I cracked aces with TT.

    For the record, I had QQ once, JJ once, TT twice, and that was about it. I took a chance 3-handed and shoved on the chipleader with JJ from the big blind (I’d done it once before with AQ), thinking he’d probably had just about enough of my antics. He called with K9s and didn’t catch and suddenly I was chipleader for the first time in the tourney. When we eliminated third place (I flopped a boat with 67o) we immediately started talking chop. Once we agreed we both shoved all-in… and both flipped over ATo. That pretty much broke any potential tension. The nominal winner’s transfer was in my account practically by the time the last card was dealt – he’s a mensch.

      Congrats! I lurked for a few minutes when it got down to the final few tables. You were controlling the table. Once your QQ held up against the AQ, you were gold. Well played.
