Brain -

Sure, those thoughts are running through my head when I take part in Movie Theatre Security Theater. But those thoughts aren’t what move me to action; I used to give up my phone at some screenings, grudgingly, but a change in circumstance caused me to reconsider my position.

I used to think, “This is really dumb and pointless, but it does me no harm to comply, so fine, whatever.” Now I think, “This is really dumb and pointless, and there’s also an infinitesimal chance that complying will cause harm to me or those I love, so I’m going to stop complying and see what happens.” It’s not my irritation over being forced to surrender the SideKick that causes me to want to keep it; the irritation just makes the stories more entertaining.

Good points. My comment got so damn long I decided to make my own post about it. Now I gotta ask, are these thoughts running through your mind when they try to make you check you Sidekick? Welcome to Tilt City…. population 1. But it is something to try to remember.
