Voila

WordPress is awesome. I upgraded to 2.1.2, slapped in a new theme, modified a few php calls and dropped in a new image, installed widgets, and only had to deal with bizarre syntax errors once. Well, there was that moment of panic when I thought I might have to restore from backups during the upgrade, but at least I made backups.
We’ll call the reformatting 75% complete. I’ll probably clutter up the sidebars with some random ‘best-of’ link collections, maybe some rotating pimpage if I can do it without too much trouble. Also there will be ads. Most regular readers are probably getting this through RSS anyway so you’ll be unlikely to notice much of a difference, but ping me if RSS is acting wonky or if the layout is upgefucked on your browser and I’ll see what I can do.

This looks cool. I like.
Make sure you’re running a patched version of WordPress; there was a bad infected ‘sploitable version floating around for a bit recently.

Nice looking site. I couldn’t help but buy a bunch of books through your amazon affiliate link.

I got the non-infected version (2.1.2). Thankfully I’m lazy about upgrading.

As a fellow WP’er I’m waiting to hear your take on improvements. Is it worth the upgrade?

So far the improvements seem to be minor tweaks – I mostly upgraded because I wanted to change themes and layout and figured the most useful common plugins like Widgets would be geared for later release versions. The stuff I’ve noticed so far minor, like the addition of a confirmation box when you follow an emailed link to approve or deny a moderated comment, and some built-in macro buttons for HTML when you’re drafting. Looks like there might be better management of time stamps when drafting and more options for ‘private’ posts, so maybe there’s some .htaccess stuff under the hood that I haven’t looked at yet.
